“Bring Within the Frame the Frame” is an ongoing series of documentary-style photographs. The series investigates perspective and observation, paying attention to things knotted, cross-hatched, obscured, blurred, bordered, or enclosed in an effort to reveal that which is hidden in plain sight or just beyond our view. The series draws attention to “naturally occurring framing devices” by placing things between the viewer and the apparent subject of the photograph, or by working with a subjects’ absence rather than their presence. The project challenges conventions of composition, making the interruptions to our clear view the very focus of our view.
